DIY Pumpkin Face Mask

Here in New England it’s still warm outside, but I’m seeing signs of fall, like my favorite food, PUMPKINS! This is the first year I grew pumpkins in my garden, so I have a lot of fresh pumpkin to try out a DIY pumpkin face mask. Pumpkins seem to be at every farm stand, looking so pretty, and starting my cravings for pumpkin. I not only love to eat anything with pumpkin, but I enjoy carving pumpkins and scraping out the puree to make my pumpkin muffins.

But if you usually throw out your puree, there is one great way you can use your pumpkin puree and that is to make a DIY pumpkin face mask! It’s easy to make and you can alter the recipe for the type of result you want depending on if your skin is dry or oily.

This DIY pumpkin face mask is also great if you have acne prone skin too. It is very gentle, soothing, and hydrating.

What Benefits are in the Pumpkin Mask?

Pumpkin has zinc, vitamin A, vitamin C, antioxidants and enzymes that are all great for your skin!

All of these vitamins and minerals are excellent at improving the appearance of your skin. Your skin can easily absorb the nutrients when it’s applied. The vitamins, especially vitamin A and C, help increase your skin’s collagen production to prevent and reduce wrinkles making this mask great for anti-aging. For that reason, I make sure to apply some around the wrinkles near my eyes.

This pumpkin mask is also great for dry and acne prone skin. With the cooler nights and loss of humidity in the air, my skin has been dry recently. This mask helps moisturize and soothe your skin. It helps eliminate dryness without clogging pores.

Added ingredients benefits are;
Honey- Antibacterial, moisturizing
Bentonite Clay – Tightens skin, helps shrink pores, and draws out toxins
Coconut Oil – Antibacterial, moisturizing
Egg white – Contains antioxidants, enzymes, and nutrients. Tightens pores and adds moisture to skin.

What Does the DIY Pumpkin Face Mask do?

The pumpkin mask moisturizes, nourishes and revitalizes your skin. You can even make the recipe so it exfoliates helping to reduce dead skin cells.

For all of these mask recipes, apply to clean skin and leave on for about 15 minutes.

Choose what type of result you want and pick your DIY Pumpkin Face Mask Recipe:

Exfoliating Recipe:

  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin puree (canned or fresh)
  • 2 teaspoons raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon bentonite clay

Directions – Blend all ingredients and apply to clean skin massaging in circular strokes. Rinse off after about 15 to 20 minutes.

Dry Skin/Normal Skin:

  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin puree
  • 2 teaspoons raw honey
  • ¼ teaspoon coconut oil

Oily Skin:

  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 egg white

The apple cider vinegar acts as an astringent and combined with the egg white, this mask will tighten your pores and leave you with brighter and smooth skin.

Relax with your pumpkin mask and eat a pumpkin muffin! Hope you enjoy your DIY pumpkin face mask!!

Hi, am Ramlah. I also prefer to go the natural way. Just tried washing my hair with baking soda, and rinsing with Apple cider vinegar, the hair feels oily still and am wondering if its because my hair is natural. Thanks

This sounds awesome! I definitely want to try this. Can you use any sort of organic pumpkin or is fresh best?
