I love using a hair avocado mask once a week to increase shine and reduce tangles.
Last night was the first time I tried an avocado hair mask! I am really impressed with the results, my hair came out silky and shiny..and no tangles!
I have long hair and it has been increasingly tangly. After trying a few different natural conditioners from my local health food store, but none seemed to help much and natural hair conditioners can be pretty pricey.
Benefits of a Hair Avocado Mask:
There are so many great hair masks you can make using ingredients right in your kitchen. I’ve tried many hair masks with egg whites, coconut oil and many other ingredients. Not only, can they improve how your hair looks but, they are actually good for your hair too!
A hair avocado mask is one of the best to use because it contains so many nutrients to improve your hair and scalp. Avocados are rich in protein, vitamins and amino acids, which increase hair strength, prevent breakage, and moisturize.
Avocados are loaded with hair nourishing vitamins such as; vitamin A, D, and E. The natural oils in the avocado are very moisturizing and adding the olive oil provides an extra boost.
I added a little lemon juice and olive oil to the hair mask for additional benefits too! Lemon juice adds a shine enhancing component to the recipe. The olive oil adds extra hydration to the recipe for deep conditioning.
How this Hair Avocado Mask Worked for Me:
After I rinsed out the hair avocado mask, I noticed an immediate difference. It was so easy to comb my hair out afterwards. Usually, my hair is full of tangles and it takes a long time to brush them out. I was glad to find that this hair mask helped reduced tangles.
This hair avocado mask is a great natural treatment to help dry and frizzy hair. It is very hydrating and acts as a deep conditioner.
The best part is, all of these ingredients can be found right in your kitchen!

I have very long hair and it becomes very difficult to manage if it gets dry. Once per week, I use the Shielo intensive Hair Mask and it has not only repaired my damage hair (which use to always tangle) but has also give them a smooth silky shine. It appears as if there has been a coating of cream on your hair which is protective layer.

Hope the avocado mask helps! Coconut oil also works great too.

I have rally long hair and so if you have short hair it makes sense to useless 1/8 a cup . I personally have used oliive oil for years and it did the best job with the avocado.. I always had to wash it twice so do it on a day no huge plans. i tried coconut oil and it was less oily but i also the results werent as great. I have fine hair a little wavy but lons of it and long. work the avocado in and mix it with the olive oil. You dont want to just pour it on your hair You need to work it in and down a bit
I hope this helps.

what kind of shampoo would you recommend after using the avocado mask?
Lori
I’ve been using castile soap as shampoo and it’s been working great, very gentle. 🙂

I did this, I used under 1/4 cup oil and my hair still seems a bit too oily. I shampoo’d with my Castile shampoo mix (and ACV rinse) D: Do you think baking soda will get it out better?
Lori
Baking soda will definitely take out any extra oil.
Jenny
I’ve heard that baking soda can damage hair after using it a while plus its abrasive and can scratch your scalp and cause problems and to anyone that has sensitive skin, I don’t recommend using it.
Lori
I recently stopped using baking soda because my hair was becoming dry. I’m now using castile soap which is a lot more gentle.

The amount of oil the recipe called for seemed too much, so I used 1/8C instead and it was perfect. I didn’t feel the difference until I dried my hair. No tangles, soft and light. I haven’t felt my hair feel this good in ages.
Many thanks!
Lori
Glad you found the amount that works best for you!

This made my hair so nasty oily. I’ve washed 4 times already and still slimy. Do you use regular shampoo? I’m using homemade nontoxic ones. Might have to resort to regular shampoo now!!

Hi Ashley, I wash my hair with baking soda (no-poo method). I only use the hair avocado mask once a week or so as more of a deep conditioner. Hope this helps!

How can i get Avocado Mashed? Plz answer..From where i can get it? Is it any natural fruits or i can get any dust of avocado from market?
Thanks.
Sarah
Usually they sell avocado whole at the grocery store and you can first peel it and then you can mash it up yourself with a potato masher- I don’t think you can find a plain avocado sold pre-mashed at the store- that would be guacamole (probably has salt and spices).

I just take the avocado (can be found in the produce isle of your food store) I use in my kitchen, peel the skin and mash it up with a fork.

I peel my avacado then put pieces at a time in my blender. Then i add 1 egg , a few tablespoons of honey ( depends on how much hair you have and how thick ) let it blend a little at a time.
Section hair , apply like you would a relaxer.
Let set for 15 or 20 minutes, rinse with cool but not cold water. ( if water is to warm it will cook the egg in your hair )
Just use a little shampoo, then blow dry.
If need be you can flat iron.
You will love the shiny and bouncy results !
This is for all types of hair .
Tessa
Im not sure where you live but Sprouts farmers market is a great place to buy avocado.

You take an avocado, take it out of the shell and mash it with a fork….

After years of using hair dye about three weeks ago I reacted very badly to hair dye and have been told that hair dye must have the PPD ingredient in it and therefore this may be one of the reasons for the reaction. Does the Aveda products have this component.

If avocado is ripe and soft just go around with knife gently to cut open, (the seed is lg) and once halved if ripe enough u can sort of squeeze seed out. Or it will fall out. Sometime u just kind of twist two halves to separate. Then gently slide you knife around outer edge and inside will come out easily then, mash with fork.

I tried this hair mask and my hair did feel good however it never dried as the amount of oil recommended is far too much so my hair stayed oily for hours and I had to rewash later in the day.
