Natural DIY Acne Spot Treatment with Tea Tree OilWhether you’re battling acne on a constant basis or looking for an easy fix to rid your face of the occasional pimple, this DIY acne spot treatment with tea tree oil is an effective all natural remedy. Many of the mainstream commercial products for acne contain harmful chemicals. So don’t risk damaging your skin attempting to eliminate your acne and instead try this simple natural acne spot treatment.

I first tried using tea tree oil for acne a few years ago. It has great antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that help fight acne. It can help heal breakouts by reducing their size and redness quicker and also prevent more breakouts from forming.

One of the main reasons I turned to a more natural lifestyle 10 years ago was because of my acne. I really began trying everything to try to combat it and surprisingly found that natural methods worked better than chemical over the counter medications and even pharmaceutical medications.
Surprisingly, this DIY acne spot treatment helped heal breakouts better than Proativ did for me. Plus, Proactiv left my skin dry and flaky.

How this DIY Acne Spot Treatment Works

Tea tree oil used topically is a great antiseptic for disinfecting your pores and clearing out blackheads and pimples. In a study comparing tea tree oil and benzoyl peroxide (commonly found in commercial spot treatments) tea tree oil has been shown to be as effective in treating acne as benzoyl peroxide with fewer side effects. This is great because for many people benzoyl peroxide is too harsh and can result in new breakouts.

The only drawback to tea tree oil is the possibility of drying your skin. This is compensated for by the jojoba oil in the mixture. The jojoba oil moisturizes and soothes the skin so that your skin doesn’t overreact to dryness and produce too much oil. This will prevent new acne from forming while the tea tree oil gets rid of the current acne. Because jojoba oil is so structurally similar to sebum (oil produced naturally by the skin) your skin will have no problem absorbing it. It is also non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores.

How to Make the DIY Acne Spot Treatment:

Ingredients:

  • ½ teaspoon of jojoba oil
  • 1 to 2 drops of 100% pure tea tree oil

Directions:

1. Measure out ½ teaspoon of jojoba oil and pour into a small bowl.
2. Add 1 to 2 drops of 100% pure tea tree oil
3. Stir the mixture until it is entirely blended.
4. Using a Q-tip or finger apply to pimples or acne affected areas before bedtime.
5. Wash your face with warm but not hot water in the morning to remove the solution.

How long can I store this Tea tree oil acne spot treatment solution?

It is most effective and best used as soon as it’s made. Prepare a new mixture every night to ensure freshness.

How Often Should You Use this DIY Acne Spot Treatment?

I use the acne spot treatment about 1 to 4 times per day on any breakouts I have. This way it absorbs into your skin and can penetrate the dermis to fight the bacteria several times per day and be most effective. I apply it at least once before bed so it has time to work overnight and once in the morning.

Can I wear Makeup Over it?

Yes! Whenever I have a breakout, especially a bad one, I have a hard time going out without at least trying to cover it up with a little makeup. So, I apply the DIY acne spot treatment first, about 30 minutes before applying makeup. Then apply makeup on top of it. This way it has time to fully absorb into your skin and you’re not washing it off before you apply any cover up.All Natural DIY Acne Spot Treatment for Acne. I apply this spot treatment anytime I have a breakout. It helps reduce redness and shrinks the pimple.

thank you for sharing this wonderful article. Acne Spot happens on your face by dust, unhygienic water, a lot of eating junk food or doing some bad thing.

Good idea! I have made this one — and varied the oils.. but have clients make weekly, and keep refrigerated. It’s about compliance, often, and people sometimes prefer a weekly prep than a daily — especially when it’s a teen. Have you found there to be an issue with this idea (re weekly and fridge?)
    Thanks!!

You can use coconut oil, but it can sometimes cause breakouts. It’s a little more comedogenic. I use it everywhere on my body except for my face because of that reason. Hempseed oil or sunflower oil are also great oils that are non-comedogenic if you have either of those.
