I’ve always had hooded eyelids and recently began trying to find a natural remedy to change the appearance of it. I actually came up with the idea of trying egg whites as a natural remedy for drooping eyelids after I used an egg white facial mask. I’m so glad I tried using it for my eyelids because it really changed how my eyelids look!
Natural Remedy for Drooping Eyelids and Hooded Eyelids Using Egg Whites - I apply the egg white to my upper eyelid, let it dry and see a big improvement.

You won’t believe how easy it is to use this natural remedy for drooping eyelids and hooded eyelids! And I can’t believe there is no information on this online! And all you need is an Egg! I’m so excited that my experiment worked. Plus, it’s inexpensive and all natural!

Those are my before and after pictures of using this egg white natural remedy for drooping eyelids. I took the pictures within minutes of each other because that’s how fast it works when you apply egg white to your eyelid.

Update: I put up this post with this natural remedy over 7 years ago and since then, I have received thousands of comments and emails from people who found this remedy to work for them too!

How I Came Up with this Egg White Natural Remedy for Drooping Eyelids

My mom has been mentioning recently that she wanted to do something about her drooping eyelids. So, over the past few days I started researching natural remedies for drooping eyelids and surprising I couldn’t find anything! Then I started thinking about what could possibly help. Using an egg white for drooping eyelids was my first thought. I usually do an egg white facial once a week and I know how it tightens your skin and removes the appearance of wrinkles. Surprisingly, there was no information on using an egg white for drooping eyelids, so I had to experiment with it myself.

So, I used the egg white on my eyelids just like I do on my face. I applied a little bit to my upper eyelids, let it dry then looked in the mirror to see if it worked. I applied it a few times, trying it a little lower and a little higher on my eyelid to get it in just the right spot. After 3 tries, I looked in the mirror and wow, it really worked!

The egg white tightened my skin above my eyelid and changed how my eyelid fell. Now, as you can see in my picture above, you can actually see my upper eyelid instead of it being covered by excess skin. I’m so happy with how this natural remedy for drooping eyelids worked. I’m so excited to be able to wear eye shadow now and have it be visible. My hooded eyelids always made eye shadow invisible because the excess skin would cover it.

Improving the Look of Your Eyelids

Many want to improve the appearance of drooping eyelids and hooded eyelids. Drooping eyelids are associated with appearing tired and older. Some feel that improving their drooping eyelids will improve their self-confidence, physical appearance, and make them feel more attractive.

The weight from a drooping eyelid may also tire the muscles of the eye and cause fatigue.

When you have drooping eyelids or hooded eyes you may also have more difficulty applying makeup. Since having drooping eyelids or hooded eyes may make the eyelid itself not visible under the excess skin, eyeliner or eye shadow applied may not be visible. This is one reason I wanted to find a natural remedy for drooping eyelids because I could never really wear eye shadow.

What’s the Difference Between Drooping Eyelids, Sagging Eyelids and Hooded Eyes?

This is something I was curious about when I first started reading up on remedies for drooping eyelids. Before I knew the difference, I thought my eyelids would be classified as drooping eyelids, but actually, I have hooded eyes.

Hooded Eyes is just a term used to refer to those who have the physical characteristic of the skin above the eye slightly protruding over the natural crease of the eyelid. When you have hooded eyes, generally the eyelids are partially covered by the skin when your eyes are open, slightly hiding the eyelid itself. Having hooded eyes is actually very common, a few public figures that I can think of are Blake Lively and Renee Zellweger. Hooded eyelids aren’t necessarily something that needs a remedy, they are often viewed as alluring and beautiful.

Drooping Eyelids or Sagging Eyelids are not something you’re born with, instead it occurs over time and is most commonly associated with aging and the loss of skin elasticity. They may stay constant or progressively worsen over time. Drooping eyelids is very common for both men and women.

What Causes it?

Most commonly, drooping eyelids is the result of aging causing a loss of skin elasticity around the eye. The tissue loses its firmness and the ability to hold back the increased weight of the eyelid skin tissue. Other possible causes have been said to be thyroid dysfunction, fatigue, smoking, and increased oxidative stress.

Other Treatments Used:

There aren’t many great solutions or remedies for drooping eyelids. The primary options include upper eyelid cosmetic surgery (blepharoplasty), injections of chemical fillers, or thermage.

One much less invasive option I’ve come across is using eyelid tape. It’s pretty inexpensive and you just apply a piece of tape to your eyelid to hold it in a new position.

My Natural Remedy for Drooping Eyelids or Hooded Eyes

For this natural remedy for drooping eyelids, all you’re going to need is one egg! Nice and simple right? We’re just going to use the egg white part of the egg.

Egg whites naturally tighten and firm your skin when applied. The egg white will dry in less than a minute on your skin and the tightening effect changes how your eyelid falls. This helps pull in the extra skin so it does not hang over your eyelid.

When you apply egg white to your eyelid and let it dry, you will see results in a few minutes and the results have lasted me almost two days from application. I was very surprised!

The result only lasts while you have the egg white applied to your eyelid. Washing it off will make it not effective. However, when I apply it every day it seems to help “train” my eyelid to fall in the new placement and the result may be longer lasting.

Steps For Egg White Remedy for Drooping Eyelids and Hooded Eyelids

1. Make sure your eyelid doesn’t have any makeup and is dry.

2. Crack open an egg and remove the yolk, all you’re going to need is the egg white.

3. Hold your eyelid closed and dip a cotton swab into the egg white.

4. Rub the cotton swab across the crease of your eyelid (it should not drip at all, you don’t need much).

apply qtip drooping eyelid

5. Keep holding your eyelid closed and wait for the egg white to dry or you could sit in front of a fan to speed up the time.

That’s it! You may have to reapply it a little higher or a little lower if you didn’t get the result on the first try. For both my mom and I, we had to put it on 2 or 3 times to get it in the perfect spot. Once we figured out where to put it, it came out great!

Can you save the egg white or do you have to use a fresh egg every day?

I tried this and it did not work at all. Can you tell me what I possibly did wrong? I have very hooded eyelids and I would like to know if this improves the overall hooded-ness of the eyes. Is there anyway to get the problem to go away completely? Thanks!

Did you try it in different locations on the eyelid, higher and lower? It takes me several tries to get it in the perfect spot.

    Hello,
I read through a lot of comments and couldn’t quite find the answer to my question. I have very oily eyelids and need to wear eye primer. Could I use eye primer on top of the egg white then apply the makeup last? It seems you don’t put the egg white on the whole lid like you would do with the eye prmer. Thank you!

I haven’t tried it with primer. It kind of works like a primer itself. Let us know if you do.

How sweet you are for sharing this wonderful treatment. My mother has always used “natural” things for her face. Eggs, honey, cucumbers, etc. She NEVER went into the sun, and washed her face faithfully every night, She is eighty years old now and has the skin of a much younger woman. When will woman realize that you just don’t need the expensive product on the market????? Again, thank you for sharing!!!!

Can you please tell me the exact are where the egg white needs to be applied. In the area where we apply the eye liner i.e. just above the eye lashes or above it.

Please tell me clearly the exact area so that i have good result. My marriage is in October, and i am really worried about the photographs because the droopy eyelid is clearly visible in photos.

Hi,Lori, just found your site and can’t wait to try this for my droopy upper lids, from the other comments, it sounds promising-I have a question, after applying and allowing to dry,can another coat be applied on top of the first coat(if placement wasn’t exactly right) or do you wash off and start all over? Also will 2 or 3coats improve the results? Thank you so much for sharing your beauty secrets with others.

Yes, you can apply coats on top. That’s what I do. I keep applying until I get it in the perfect spot. I don’t wash it off in between.

Hi Lori. thank you for your post. In fact,I am trying this for three days, but I am an Asian so my both eyes are single eyelids. Actually I have a little crease near my eyes but still looks like single eyelids. When I apply egg white for first time above my crease, it became more droopy. Then I try to apply it on my crease, but sometimes I apply egg white on my eyelashes accidentally. Therefore it’s so obvious that my creases are so near my eyes. Well, the effect is not so satisfy or it seems like didn’t works. So I want to ask where should I apply the egg whites on my eyelids?.Additionally,my eyelids are droop because of the double eyelid tape, this problem had vex me for a long time. Lastly,I hope you can help me to solve this annoying problem, thank you. 😀 And sorry for my broken English.

I would try applying it in the center, where you would like the crease to be. It took me several tries to find the right spot; moving it higher/lower.

What do you do with the yolk? Maybe if you put it on another part of your anatomy you’ll find it works wonders there: e.g. putting under armpits might cure bubonic plague…

Droopy eyelids are my family’s genetic reality, starting in our 30s. I had a spendy laser treatment (temporary, but worked) then I started using the Made from Earth Vitamin Firming Serum just before the next treatment. The bottle of that works as well as a $1000+ laser treatment? Now I buy 2 bottles of the Vitamin Firming Serum and just a tiny dab on each eyelid, every am & pm, does the trick. About 3 weeks after first use the change was obvious, even to my husband.

I think because I don’t et enough sleep my eye lids are uneven.
Will this work for me ?
Also do you apply it to both eyes or just the 1 that’s uneven ?

    Thanks in advance !

I apply it to both. Both my eyelids are naturally hooded. I rarely apply makeup over it. You can if you want to, but not needed.
