Honey and Ginger Sore Throat Tea and Immune Booster

Sore Throat Tea

Sore throat tea is a great way to calm an inflamed throat or help prevent it!

With so many coming down with colds and the flu these past few weeks, I wanted to share a great remedy for this time of year.

This sore throat tea contains great ingredients to boost your immune system to prevent colds and will help reduce the severity and duration of symptoms if you already have one.

The use of lemon and honey for sore throats is one of the most common natural remedies. Honey is antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial. Honey will also soothe your throat as it coats the throat and mucous membranes.Lemon is high in vitamin C and aids in enhancing the antimicrobial benefits of the honey when both are combined.

Garlic is a fantastic immune booster! When ever I feel the beginning  symptoms of a cold, I increase the amount of garlic I eat and this always helps knock out the cold. Garlic is antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal. Garlic is very powerful and aids in inhibiting or killing off bacteria and viruses.

It is  best to start drinking the tea as soon as you feel any symptoms starting. This will increase the chances that it will shorten the duration and severity of your cold.

Sore Throat Tea Ingredients:

  • 1/2 of an organic lemon
  • 6 slices of fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of raw honey

Sore Throat Tea Steps:

  1. Boil a cup of water
  2. Thinly slice the garlic and ginger. Put in tea cup.
  3. Pour boiling water into cup, allow to steep for 5 to 10 minutes, then strain.
  4. Add honey and juice of lemon to tea cup.

Storing Your Sore Throat Tea

You can pre-mix the ingredients for the sore throat tea and store them in jar in the refrigerator. This is especially helpful if you have the tea a couple times of day, that way you have it on hand and don’t have to keep taking out the ingredients. Since honey is antibacterial and is a natural preservative, you can keep the mixture stored in your fridge for months.Soothing Sore Throat Tea with Honey and Ginger - Immune boosting tea

Great tea! My hubby woke up with a sore throat today so I might just have to make him a cup of this to soothe his tired throat. Thanks for sharing! Who knew garlic was so versatile? 🙂

Oh yes I LOVE having lemon and ginger tea when I have a sore throat! Adding garlic to it is an AWESOME idea! I usually just munch on raw garlic or put raw garlic in a salad. Have you ever tried making a garlic and honey cough syrup? I haven’t yet, but it’s something I want to try! 🙂
