After suffering with acne for the past 15 years, I’ve found that many natural remedies for acne work better than over-the-counter things I’ve tried.
There are many options for all natural remedies for acne. So, how do you choose which ones to try?
The ones I have included in my list of the top 10 all natural remedies for acne, are ones that I have found to work the best and are the most powerful! Everyone is different, and it may require some experimentation to find what works best for you! But most importantly, don’t give up!
After having acne for many years, I have tried nearly every possible remedy and treatment. I even, hate to say it, I’ve even tried prescription treatments. The funny thing is, after trying everything, I found the natural remedies for acne have worked the best! Seriously!
My acne started around age 13 and only progressed to get worse! My mother always told me, just wait until after high school, it will get better. But those years came and went with no change. Then, I had hoped by the end of college I would definitely be better, but yep you guessed it, four years later, it was only worse!
All through high school and college, I searched for years trying to find help, but nothing seemed to work. It didn’t seem fair because for some people, they improved with age. This is because acne it seems is sometimes just a temporary occurrence due to changes in hormones, but for me and many others that isn’t the case!
Getting to the Causes of Acne
1. Diet: What you eat matters! Many say that your that diet doesn’t matter. However, for many it came make a big impact. It so important to watch what you’re putting into your body. Avoid all processed foods, eat real foods and make sure to get enough fats into your diet, such as avocados and coconut oil. Dairy can be a problem and this should be avoided, along with refined sugar.
2. Get a blood test! Test your blood for vitamins and nutrients to make sure you aren’t deficient in anything. Also, it may be a good idea to check your thyroid and your hormone levels (progesterone and testosterone).
3. Allergens! Your acne may be a result of an allergy. Determine if there are any possible allergens that may be causing your acne, such as gluten, which may reduce the amount of nutrients absorbed. Other common allergens are dairy, yeast and eggs. Delayed food allergies may affect you especially if you have a leaky gut.
10 Best All Natural Remedies for Acne:
1. Baking Soda– This is my absolute favorite natural remedy for acne! Surprisingly, I only discovered baking soda masks a couple of years ago, and oh boy, is this stuff powerful at clearing skin! Baking soda not only helps eliminate breakouts and reduces inflammation, it is also an exfoliator and helps remove dead skin cells! Because of this, it also works great to reduce any old scars or acne marks. To use it, just take a few teaspoons of baking soda and mix it with warm water until it forms a paste. Apply the paste to your skin. You may want to leave it on for only 10 to 15 minutes the first few times as it may feel powerful. You can gradually increase the time up to an hour. After one use you can see a great difference in your skin.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar– This natural remedy for acne is another powerful one, it has both antibacterial and antifungal properties. To start out, you may want to dilute a few teaspoons with half cup water or 1/4 cup water as it can be quite powerful when applied directly to your skin. Make sure to use apple cider vinegar that’s raw, unfiltered and labeled as “with the mother”, which has the most nutrients.
3. Coconut Oil– Coconut oil is antibacterial and antifungal. Coconut oil is also extremely moisturizing and gentle. It helps fight the bacteria and reduce redness. Apply the coconut oil to your skin and massage it in. You can reapply a couple times per day. With coconut oil, there is no need to ever use a moisturizer again, it works so well. For optimal benefit, use organic coconut oil that is unrefined.
4. Tea Tree Oil– Tea tree oil is an essential oil and can be a very powerful all natural remedy for acne, as it is antibacterial. To apply it, mix a small amount (5 to 10 drops) of tea tree oil with a 1/4 cup water. Dip a cotton ball into the mixture and apply it to your skin. You can reapply throughout the day or leave it on under your makeup.
5. Egg Whites– For this, I’m not talking about eating them, they make a great natural remedy for acne when used as a facial mask! Egg whites reduce the oil and minimize your pores in addition to drawing out impurities. To use it, separate the egg white from the yolk, use a cotton ball or you can use your fingers to apply the egg white to your skin. After a few minutes you’ll start to feel it tighten, you can leave it on anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. Afterwards, your skin will have an amazing glow!
6. Lemon Juice– For this one, you can either use lemon juice or a fresh squeezed lemon. Lemons have natural antibacterial and astringent properties to help clear your skin. Apply the lemon juice to your skin and leave on for 15 minutes to an hour.
7. Garlic– Not only is garlic a great natural antibacterial when ingested, it also works great topically. To use it, take a clove of garlic and thinly slice it. Rub the slices on your skin, particularly any problem areas, making sure the juice of the garlic is applied. Leave on for 15 minutes to 30 minutes.
8. Ice Cubes– Rub an ice cube on problem areas to help reduce inflammation. Not only, does the cold close your pores it also forces the bacteria out. You can also splash your face with cold water to achieve similar affects.
9. Cornstarch– Cornstarch is very soothing and gentle. This is a great natural remedy for acne when you have a lot of redness or irritation. You can apply the cornstarch to your individual breakouts or to your whole face. Sometimes I leave it on overnight and find a huge difference in the morning!
10. Aloe– Aloe is very soothing and reduces inflammation and redness. To use it, apply the gel to your skin with your fingers, you can apply it several times a day. If you have an aloe plant, it would be even better as you get the aloe fresh, without any added ingredients. Or you could also just get an organic aloe gel, I use this kind.
I still continue to use these natural remedies for acne. Typically, I use the baking soda mask and coconut oil once a day. My skin is now clearer. However, if I have an unusually stressful week or stop using baking soda for a few weeks, I may get a breakout.
No matter what the cause is, there’s no time like the present to try these natural remedies for acne and try to improve your skin to the best it can be. The good news is there’s a lot to try!
UPDATE:
I haven’t used it, but some people have found that evening primrose oil has helped them treat their acne. It is an anti-inflammatory omega-6 fat and is well known for helping women with menstrual cramps.
Other Important Natural Remedies for Acne!
Foods to add!
The following foods, when added to the diet, have been found to help acne: fish oil, turmeric, green tea, nuts, berries (dark red and purple), green leafy vegetables and omega 3-eggs.
Take a probiotic!
And don’t forget to take your probiotic! This may help your gut by decreasing inflammation.
Watch Blood Sugar, Stay Off the Rollercoaster!
You probably heard of the blood sugar rollercoaster. This is caused by eating sugar and refined (and processed )carbohydrates. So when you avoid sugar, don’t forget to cut down on your carbohydrates too! If you do eat a carbohydrate make sure you eat some healthy fat or protein to speed up the and being on this is not only a cause of many ailments but it affects your skin!
According to WebMD, a 2007 study in teenage boys and young men with acne found that eating foods with a low glycemic load (glycemic load tells you how much the food will raise blood sugar) led to significant improvement in their acne! Here is a good chart on the glycemic index of foods. An example of a high glycemic food is white rice “89” on the chart and an example of a low glycemic food is an apple “39”. Some of the best low-carb fruits include, berries, cherries, apples, pears and grapefruits. This is why one important change you can make is to make sure you keep your blood sugar steady. If your blood sugar is going wildly up and down you cause your insulin production to go in to overdrive . If you keep blood sugar balanced less “pimple producing insulin” will be in your blood and it was found in recent studies that there were less sex hormones in the blood of participants that ate foods with a low-glycemic load.
Final Tip
Get exercise and enough sleep! Not getting enough of these definitely affects my skin.
I am constantly trying to find new natural treatments to resolving acne and I will keep you posted on any new research or promising answers. Hope you will let me know if you have found anything that helps! Good luck on your journey to clear skin!
Have you tried any of these natural remedies for acne? What has worked for you?
Mel
Thanks so much for this! I’m suffering with really bad hormonal acne since having the contraceptive implant fitted. I’ve always eaten healthily and always cook with coconut oil but hadn’t tried it on my skin….used it last night and can already see a difference. Going out to buy some baking soda and ACV today!
Lori, Health Extremist
Hope it works for you! I have really seen great results with it 🙂
jess
Hi, just wondering… Would it be possible (and effective) to make a mask combining the lemon juice and baking soda, or would the two just react and fizz?
I also find that toothpaste works REALLY WELL as a spot treatment (only putting it on the pimple itself). It seems to dry them out, and reduce any painful swelling (and sometimes the redness too).
Thanks 🙂
Lori, Health Extremist
Hmm I haven’t tried it myself, it sounds like a great idea. Let us know how it works for you and if the mixture can make a paste.
Brid
I use all this and it works but what can i use to blemishes are like dark scars
Lori, Health Extremist
I have those as well. I use baking to wash my face and as an exfoliator. It helps when rubbed on skin,it will remove dead skin. It helps to speed up the time it takes for dark marks to go away.
Mama Lee
There is so much wonderful info here! My DD is trying the baking soda mask. I use it to exfoliate my skin & to help soften my hands too after weeding our garden.
For anybody who has had MORE skin issues after trying the baking soda, baking soda exfoliates, which will draw out any impurities under the skin, so if you have more acne for a bit it is not a reaction… it is everything being eliminated through your skin… kind of like a healing crisis that will improve after a bit. You can lessen the frequency of using the baking soda (as a mask, scrub, etc.) to help ease the unpleasant symptoms, but don’t give up… just take it slower as the increased symptoms will improve as you clean out your pores :).
Lori, Health Extremist
Great info, thanks for sharing!
Desirey
I use the lemon juice and just one use made my face clear up well and i have sencitive skin.
Lori, Health Extremist
That’s great! So glad to hear it helped!

Most people face are clogged up and need to wash their face daily morning and night too!
Melanie
Hi I’m suffering from acne breakouts and scars as well. I’m eager to try the baking soda mask but how often do you think I should apply it?
Angel
You should try it at least every night I guess 🙂
Lori, Health Extremist
I apply it at least once a day and it has been so helpful! Some with sensitive skin may need to start out doing it every other day.
Angel
Uhmmm.. I’m only 15 yrs. old but I have so many pimples and acne scars so what do you guys think will work best to me?? And can I use baking powder instead of baking soda???
Anonymous
Looks like baking powder would not be as effective as baking soda, since it only contains a quarter of baking soda in it.
Check out this website for the difference between baking soda and baking powder: http://www.bonappetit.com/tipstools/ingredients/2009/03/baking_powder
Angel
Thanks I’ll try it tonight
Lori, Health Extremist
Baking soda has worked great for me for preventing breakouts and improving scars. It helps the appearance of scars as it is a good exfoliator. Unfortunately, baking powder wouldn’t have the same affect.
Jerry
Thanks for the above post. I’m on the second day of using baking soda mask. But I’m using it only for 30 mins daily. I have more breakouts now than before. Is it normal? I have black scars as well. Does baking soda mask removes black scars on the face? Awaiting your response. Thanks.
Lori, Health Extremist
For me, my acne began to clear up quite a bit just after the first few applications of baking soda. It also helped the appearance of my scars because it also acts as an exfoliator. Sorry to hear it became worse, this is the first I have heard of this. Hope you can find another natural solution.

I have a question: I am already 23 years old and i have so many pimple and then i am planning to use baking soda as a mask and coconut oil as a toner but i don’t know what are the steps to follow. help me please. Thank you.
Lori, Health Extremist
I make a paste by mixing baking soda with water and apply it to my face, leaving it on for about 1 hour, then rinse off. The coconut oil is great to use afterwards and help moisturize.
Jesse
I have a question: I am a 19 year old male, who has been struggling with acne for years. I am completely willing to do the facial masks and everything, but I fear that a change in diet is not much of an option for me. I work four days a week in a pizza restaurant washing dishes and I can’t exactly afford to buy my own groceries. A guy has to eat so I am mostly confined to fast food and frozen processed foods. I understand that these foods are probably what condemn me most to my acne but I don’t know where else to go. Any help?
Hannah
Fruits and vegetables, if you are willing to buy them all raw and do some cooking, are actually some of the cheapest things you can buy! I have a degree in Health Education, and my humble advice would be to just try replacing some of the junk foods you eat with fruits and vegetables. Maybe one meal a day or just a few a week to start. Good luck:)
Lori, Health Extremist
A change in diet can make the largest impact. I saw the greatest improvement in my skin after switching to real foods, avoiding anything processed, and making sure to get enough fats (such as avocado and coconut oil) into my diet. It can be pricey, but also seeing a naturopath can be very helpful. My naturopath had me get a full blood work up and determined which minerals or nutrients I was low in (I otherwise never would have known). Hope you can find a good balance.

Aspirin mask with lemon and honey is also good to treat acne. leave it for 15 min. and then softly massage in circular motion. wash it with cool water. and feel the smoothness after! 🙂

Great! Thank you for sharing this wonderful tips. Im gonna try doing it now and see if this will work. Thanks a lot.

I have been using milk of magnesia on my face as a mask most mornings, and it really works! I just bought a big bottle of phillips brand and apply a thin mask that I leave on for about 10-15 minutes. I can see a big difference if I miss a few mornings of not doing it. Thanks for all the other suggestions, these are great. I’ve battled acne since I was a teenager (so roughly half my life) and after years of dermatologists, countless medications and 1 unsuccessful summer of accutane, I finally have clearer skin thanks to the more holistic methods!
Lori, Health Extremist
That’s great! Thanks for sharing about the milk of magnesia, I have tried that also with pretty good results! Glad to hear your skin is clear from using natural methods. 🙂
Jill
Thanks for sharing these! I have a quick question: do any of you get more acne around your period and, if so, does the baking soda mask seem to help with that as well?
Laura
Getting acne flare ups around your period is very normal for girls. I personally haven’t tried the baking soda, but to my knowledge just because the acne comes around with your cycle doesn’t mean it’s different from any other time. So baking soda should work then too.
Lisa
I am 29 years old and my breakouts got worse in my early twenties. Thats when I started to use more makeup. I have since then tried every non-natural brand I could get my hands on. But nothing worked. Some of them worked somewhat in the beginning but months later just became worse. But I found that the less products I use the better it gets. Today I use raw unprocessed shea butter for the dry spots, almond oil for the less dry spots. My chin never gets really dry and thats the only area I do get a few breakouts now and then. To combat these breakouts I use breastmilk, and it works amazingly well. I dont know what to use when I stop breastfeeding though 🙂
olga
I used breastmilk for my skin as well.. but yes, what to do when it’s gone. I was asked to sell my milk during my breastfeeding years, lol:)
Jessie
All those ideas are great! One thing to remember tho, the skin has 3 excretory organs, solids (poop), liquid (urine), and skin (eruptions/pimples) The first two have to be overloaded before it hits the skin…. Diet DOES count! Using the topical recipes above are great, but you have to cleanse the other two for long term results and change the diet to one that is not so poisonous and clogging! Does not have to be overnight change all, that would really be jolt to system that can’t handle waste already! Start adding more beneficial foods daily. I try for 5-9 veggies a day~somedays I only eat 3….but most days it will be 7-9 veggies. Keep a food diary. Adapt favorite foods, veggie omelet, veggie pizza etc. ALWAYS try to eat 1-3 cruciferous veggies daily! (Cancer prevention) and veggies that have antibacterial, anti fungal, anti parasite properties…. add and rotate more as you learn more! When I ate like this I felt great!!! Have gotten away from it and feel lousy! Starting to get back into it and am reminded everyday that I shouldn’t have gotten lazy about diet!! Dr. Oz has good 3 day cleanse if you have a Blendtec or Vitamix. Natalia Rose has a great ” Detox for Women” book out. First area to start on is digestive PBS did a special that explained to newbies the best but right now I can’t think of her name! Sorry.
Jessie
Brenda Watson did special on PBS about colon health…. Doesn’t matter how many great foods you eat if your intestines are clogged, it can’t absorb nutrients! Clean this first! the rest will follow!
Lori, Health Extremist
Great point! These natural remedies for acne are great to help minimize the appearance, but it is also very important to treat the cause!
nikki
I’m wondering how you keep the baking soda on all night?? I do a mask regularly for 5-10 minutes and have to keep rubbing the paste or water on to keep it from drying out and getting all over the place. It would be all over my pillow and in my hair etc if I slept with it on! My face is not dry I moisturize plenty so that can’t be an issue.
Lori, Health Extremist
It does get pretty messy after it dries! Before I go to bed, I put it on and wait about 15 minutes, then gently rub the crumbling pieces off with towel so it is still on but won’t make any mess.
nikki
Ok i’ll have to try that, thanks!!
Theo Omalley
If anybody concerns, coconut oil works best for me and my bro 🙂
Lori, Health Extremist
Thanks for sharing! Coconut oil is a great one!

This sounds great

I have found wonderful results with knox brand clear gelatin and milk mixture i has done wonders for my skin.

That’s great! Thanks for sharing!

Hi there,
I tried for the first time the Baking Soda mask yesterday. It felt refreshing. After I washed my face, I had several more outbreaks, is this normal?
And I was wondering how you do it, leaving the mask for more than an hour or even over night? The Baking Soda tries out and I got dust everywhere.
Thanks for sharing your great ideas.
Kirah
The breakouts could have happened because you didn’t moisturize enough after using the baking soda. It’s pretty drying plus exfoliating which = drying, so your skin produces more oil to combat the dryness thus causing more breakouts. When I use baking soda, I make sure to use my regular moisturizer and then coconut oil over it. 🙂
Anonymous
What is your regular moisturizer?
Mama Lee
The increased breakouts can happen initially due to releasing all of the trapped oil, toxins, etc. They should decrease, but like any healing crisis, things may get worse a bit before they get better.
Anonymous
I know! I get dust all over too. It’s really annoyinh
Bekah
My friend recommended this post to me and I’m really excited to try these out!
I’ll do the baking soda mask for sure, but what else should I do regularly? Because I don’t want to just try all 10 out at once! :0)
Lori, Health Extremist
The baking soda mask has worked the best for me, I use it once a day, I’m amazed at the results, even from just one application. Apple cider vinegar is a close second and coconut oil. Coconut oil is great to reduce breakouts and it moisturizes skin really well. Let us know how they work for you! 🙂
Bekah
Thanks! I’m on day 4 and I really do see great results from the baking soda mask!! Though, I do wonder how it’s kept on all night without getting baking soda all over the sheets! :0)
Lori, Health Extremist
So glad you are seeing good results! When I use it over night, I put it on and let it dry for 10 minutes and then gently rub off the excess flakes. So it is still on a little bit, but won’t make a mess. 🙂
Jerry
Can I use baking powder instead of baking soda?
Lori, Health Extremist
Unfortunately, baking powder won’t have the same affect.
Geet
Can I use baking powder instead of baking soda? I know they are slightly different in their composition but I want to try something right now and I only have baking powder.
Thanks for sharing wonderful information!
Lori, Health Extremist
Thanks! Unfortunately, I don’t believe baking powder would have the same affect.
meg
how do you do the apple cider vinegar mask? do you rub it on and leave it on for the same amount of time at the baking soda mask? thanks!
Lori, Health Extremist
I dip a cotton pad into the apple cider vinegar and then wipe it on my face. You may need to dilute the apple cider vinegar. I started out with a mixture of 50% water and 50% ACV, it can be quite strong. I sometimes leave it on for an hour or leave it on overnight.
E Flatch
Hi! Great info! PLEASE check out the blog on website http://www.skinfitaustin.com. She has the best information on diet and products with tons of wonderful tips. I recently purchased her skin care and am really happy. I wish I lived in the same state so I could actually go to her office. I have no affiliation with her …just loved the info she provided and it has really helped! 🙂
Raindrop
I’ve used raw honey masks, baking soda, Braggs apple cider vinegar (it has to be raw, unpasterized) bentonite clay, Oil of Oregano P73 by Herb and Spice does an amazing job at minimizing a huge pimple that’s deep. I rub some of the oil on at night, or even a couple times a day, and it either draws the infection out, or just minimizes it until it’s gone. I’ve also heard to drink a warm cup of freshly squeezed lemon water first thing in the morning, and it seems like I have less breakouts.
Lori, Health Extremist
Thanks for sharing, those are great remedies! Drinking lemon water in the morning is great way to detoxify, I have found it to be beneficial for my skin as well!
Raquel
Hi, what would you use if you have an angry red pimple? How would you get the inflammation down?
E Flatch
Ice really works…two minutes rubbing around. Do not hold on it b/c it can burn your skin. Aleve (the real brand name) also really helps if painful. I learned this a few yrs ago on a acne forum. Just do not over do it.
Lori, Health Extremist
Whenever I have a break out, baking soda helps the redness and inflammation, also using the ice can significantly help reduce inflammation.

Cover your white pustule ( white head) with toothpaste and leave on over night. Gone in the morning! Also witch hazel!!!!
Haley
Definitely don’t do that! Toothpaste generally has fluoride in it, which will just dry it out and not do any good
Allison
Hi Haley,
Toothpaste works great, but have you ever heard of SkinAgain’s Clear? My sister recommended it to me since I have acne prone skin and I have to say that I am completely hooked! Best part – Its a natural acne treatment!
Best of luck!
peter
i have become so tomented by acne in such a way that i sometimes regret why God gave me a face the worst of it is that when i attempt to use any medication it only gets worst i am afraid if this pimples continues i might end up using a knife on my own face because i dont even look at people on thier faces anymore not even my friends
Brian
Pete, hang in there bro. You are loved I am sure, and you are more than just the pimples on your face. Talk to your mom and dad about how you are feeling. As you can see from this page, you are not alone. Chin up and smile! 🙂
E
Very well said, Brian!!
Peter, please don’t give up & don’t do anything drastic!! I am so sorry for your agony & devastation!! Keep your chin up & know that it WILL get better!! Not overnight, but soon… just keep hanging in there!!
Are there any things mentioned here you haven’t yet tried?? Unfortunately, many of them may make things worse before they get better, but only temporarily (for a few days to maybe a week… but even then it should calm down after a couple of days)!
Maybe you could plan to try something on a Friday night & that way your skin can calm down over the weekend (or if there is another time when you may have a couple of days together when you may be able to lie low). That happens because whatever you may be using will release things that are trapped in the pores, which will then cause more inflammation for a bit. Maybe you can try something mentioned here & then take a hot shower to help open the pores & get things out of your pores faster?? Steam will open the pores & sweating will help things clear out.
You are not alone!! Talk to someone who knows what a great person you are… trust me, they don’t even see the acne… they see what an amazing person YOU are!!
One other thing I have learned about acne is that for some people, eating gluten free can dramatically change their skin. It isn’t easy to start going GF, but it sure is worth it if you can try it?!
In the meantime, get a medium head of cabbage, a garlic clove, & some good salt (Kosher, etc.). Shred the cabbage & garlic (you can use a food processor), pound it down approx. 10 mins until the juices are over the top of it… put it all in a glass jar & pack it down until you can see the juice at the top of the cabbage. Let it sit for 3 days & then put it in your fridge. Eat 2-3 T of that each day… you can even work up to 2 T w/each meal. If you are afraid of garlic breath, then leave out the garlic :). If you need more info, Google “Sally Fallon sauerkraut” & you should be able to get more details. It is super easy!! The fermented food can help your gut, which can heal the rest of your body.
Again, hang in there!!
Karen
Pete,, I know it must be hard, but there is hope! I remember one of my brothers had terrible a ne as a teen. He has the nicest skin now, I look at him and can’t believe it. Please st be patient and hang in there. I have two daughters 23 & 19. Both struggle with bad breakouts. We have tried everything, they have spent hundreds at the dermatologist, nothing. I have discovered Panoxyl soap, which was working for one of them, but it hasn’t been on the market for a while. They do use the Panoxyl 10 wash, it has helped. But I think I. Going to have them try the home remedies. I hope you find something that works for you and don’t give up, what works for one may not work for the other.
Anonymous
Pete, please dont do anything drastic!!.Having acne/pimples all over the face doesnt mean its the end of the world for you tho!.Let me tell you this, i’m an adult & way passed teen years yet i started to suffer with constant unpredicted breakouts both from pimples & acne, the worst– they even erupted on my back!!.i’ve never ever experienced random breakouts even when i was in teens not until till 2 years ago. I’ve undergone skin peeling 4 times at 30 days interval & acnes were at bay for about 3 months but came back with full revenge!.Doctor prescribed some topical medication and oral doxycycline pills to be taken once a day for a month!(my poor liver!) & have used Brevoxyl as facial wash. Well the pimple breakouts were less hence considered as very slight improvement tho but the acne breakouts were so painful and they would come out like big bee sting hard bumps on my face!!.and they cant be extracted because they dont have “eyes”.I’ve tried a full set of Obagi Nu-Skin, which is really pricey, but it just help my skin to peel off for 3 months but didnt help to get rid of acnes. My mom has told me to stop being so ambitious by trying all these “modern” skin care methodology, she said go back to “mother nature”!!.she then asked me to use this small little green lime (this is famous in Asia & it’s called Calamansi/Kalamandi),very very sour!!.i’ll cut 1 small lime into half, remove the seeds and rub one half all over my face and neck untill all its juice were on my skin. Let it dry for 2 minutes then use the other half again to rub gently all over my face and neck, leave it dry for 15 minutes. This hurts a lot, a little itchy too. You can really feel the acid digging underneath your skin. This little lime has the most powerful Vitamin C than any other lime or lemon. You can try to google it. And this I do every morning as my facial mask. In the evening I’ll do the same but after 15 minutes, i’ll pour a tablespoon of Castor Oil on my palms, and massage it all over my face and neck for 10 minutes. Massage in a circular motion & focus more where the pimples and acnes are. Then i’ll wash my face with warm water. My skin would tend to be a little dry & tight tho for a few minutes after facial wash but you’ll see slight difference each day, pimples and acnes dries up faster, white heads & black heads comes off easily by themselves especially when you wash your face with warm water, pores are getting smaller, lessens acne scar, skin tone changes and skin looks brighter. And in the morning upon waking up, i’ll squeeze 15 pieces of those green little lime in a cup (no water!) and add a teaspoon of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and drink the juice before I go to the gym. After gym, that’s just when i’ll eat oats and fruits for brekky. In the evening i’ll do the same but after dinner and before going to bed. Ive been doing this routine for 2 months now and i’m very happy with the results. Since its just 2 months, so i’m still fighting to reduce acne scars, little green lime helps me a lot on this.
Perhaps you might wanna give it a try, i’ve stopped using any modern facial care & treatment & facial wash except the little green lime and Castor Oil. Also I go to gym every morning and eat more veggies and fruits & salmon & tuna. I’m not into organic stuffs but I do try once in a while.I didnt stop drinking cow’s milk — fresh or pure, why?, because I grew up drinking milk every single day and never had issues with pimples & acnes even if I just munch on cheeze!!!( i’m in mid 30’s) but i do believe lack of exercise, less green veggies & fruits on our diet, lifestyle & hormonal changes has compelling effects on these nasty pimples & acnes outbreaks.
Just give it a try, oh and 1 more thing, everytime the little green lime juice stings on my skin, i’ll say a chant, BACTERIA JUST DIED,BACTERIA JUST DIED!, and i’ll chant this over & over again. Just to distract me with those juice stings!
Good luck and dont be sad, your not the only one who has pimples and acnes..
Jacqueline
Peter,
I suffered for years too and I did not want to look at people. I wanted to kill myself at one point but please don’t do that. Where do you live? Do you have good Naturopathic or Homeopathic physicians in your area? Have you tried completely eliminating all dairy and sugar? I know it sounds hard but you can do it. God did not give you acne. We are all struggling in an imperfect world with conditions and diseases that God never intended for us. Take care.
Hannah
Pete, I know exactly how you feel. My acne began when I was just 11 and I was regularly bullied (even my teachers made fun of me). My self-esteem shot way, way down and there were some low points where I didn’t want to go on. But a couple of years later I found a really great, supportive group of friends who made me realise that your skin is really just the tiniest part of what makes you an amazing person. It seems like nobody can see the real you underneath but believe me, if you stay positive and concentrate on the things that make you happy, it will shine through.
I am now 21 and still suffer from mild-moderate acne occasionally. I work as a model so it is important for me to keep my skin healthy and as clear as it can be, but even when make-up artists or other models comment on my skin, I really couldn’t care less. It’s just not that important. I’m a happy, intelligent, kind and passionate person. I have the love of my family, friends and self. Therefore, I see myself as lucky and don’t let anything else weigh me down.
If anybody dismisses you or doesn’t want to get to know you because of something so shallow, then they aren’t worth getting to know. Concentrate on making yourself happy, not what other people think. Everyone has insecurities and even the most gorgeous models worry and fret about their freckles, being too pale, split ends, their wonky nose, thin lips, small breasts, big breasts -the list goes on forever. Those things truly give you character and keep you humble and kind.
Your appearance does not sum you up as a person. You’re so much more than that! Find what makes you feel happy and alive! You have a beautiful life ahead of you, hang in there 🙂 🙂 🙂
As for my natural trick- Epsom salts! Two cups in a bath 2-3 times a week helps with chest and back acne- soak in there for at least 20 minutes. For the face, I rub a handful of salt onto damp skin and use as an exfoliator. You can leave it on as a mask. It does not dry skin out as it helps to retain moisture. You can use it up to 2 times a day and in conjunction with other natural products, just figure out what works best for your skin. It’s super cheap and works better than anything I have ever been prescribed by a doctor!

I found Rosemary oil to be of great benefit for blackheads, best applied in the morning, leave on for about 20 minutes. Shrinks pores, makes skin less oily and loosens blackheads, if used every day they will come out by themselves. 1 drop rosemary oil to 2 ml carrier oil.
Found lemon juice worked well for my acne.

The thing that worked best for my kids was vitamin B5, also known as Pantothenic Acid. It takes about a month to work, but it REALLY works! You take 1000 to 2000 mg per day. The acne clears right up. I have heard of cases where it didn’t work for somebody, probably because they had some other cause for the acne other than just normal teenage acne that couldn’t be overcome by the vitamin.

That was the only thing that worked for me ! It changed my life! I wish I would have known since my teens and not on my mid forties. I’m now 57 and my skin looks better than when I was a teenager.

A big factor is also the health of your gut. I always struggled with my skin but ever since I started a diet full of probiotic foods and beverages, my skin has been so clear.

What are some examples of probiotic foods?

I drink kombucha everyday and take a good quality probiotic. There are several dairy products that contain probiotics, however, dairy can actually make acne worse in some cases.

Fermented foods provide beneficial bacteria similar to probiotics, such as sauerkraut.

All of these remedies are excellent! Yogi Skin Detox tea is also another good organic product to use, as long as you use how directed.

What products or food do u eat for that? I have that problem

Thank you for this! My husband has started making kombucha, he gracefully searched for jars with dispensers like you would see at weddings so I didn’t have to mess with the mushroom. I’ve been researching GSPS and how the gut affects our mood. I find that the probiotics in strong kombucha make a world of difference. We haven’t been on it for more than a week so I do not know what changes on my face will occur.

Bentonite clay, http://www.bulkherbstore.com/Bentonite-Clay-Powder?s=bentonite is also a great acne remedy. Used as a mask, it draws dirt and bacteria from the skin, reduces, swelling, and leaves skin feeling smooth.

Thanks for adding that! That is another excellent remedy and it works fast too!

Hey girls and guys:) I’ve had problem skin since my early 20’s. Then I had kids and when they suffered from acne, I was more desperate than ever to find a “cure”. I was lucky enough to get a pushy sales person at The Body Shop. They have a great line of tea tree oil face products! The face wash is a miracle! It cleared up me and my kids! It’s kind of expensive but worth it. Plus, The Body Shop uses a lot of natural ingredients and they participate in fair trade:) ..I tend to have a bad reaction to ANYTHING on my face. I’m getting older and I needed to moisturize as well as fight acne (still). The Body Shop has another line of skin products, called Drops of Youth. All of those products are wonderful! They have plant-stem cells in them. They don’t only fight effects of age but also they all help make skin healthier and have less acne. You can order it online and if you don’t like it, return it!
