I love this natural homemade dish soap! It is easy to make with just 3 ingredients and works great for cleaning dishes without any harmful chemicals.Natural Homemade Dish Soap

If I don’t have many dirty dishes in the sink I will do them by hand rather than using the dishwasher. What do I use for soap? I love using my own natural homemade dish soap because whenever I use any product on my skin I like to know what ingredients are in it. Another benefit to using your own natural dish soap, is if you want to use homemade dish soap it’s pretty easy to make and is great on the budget.

Why make your own dish soap?

Natural homemade dish soap is the way to go if you want to stay away from the toxins of the commercial dish soaps. Because there is not much regulation of what can go in your dish soap, you never know what you can be exposing yourself to. Even some of the natural dish soaps have chemicals that can be a health concern like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). SLS is derived from coconut oil but wait… that’s not the end, after that it is contaminated during the manufacturing process. What does SLS do? For one thing, it’s what helps give you all those bubbles. It’s a cleansing agent and foaming. But those bubbles are not so innocent! According to the environmental working group, sodium lauryl sulfate and it’s close cousin sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), may have contamination from toxic manufacturing impurities like 1,4-dioxane and they are a concern for irritation of the skin, eyes or lungs.

But some of the main scoring factors for the health concerns of SLS, according to the Environmental Working Group, are the chronic aquatic toxicity, damage to DNA, and respiratory effects.

My Natural Homemade Dish Soap

My recipe for natural homemade dish soap may not form suds as much as the toxic alternatives, but you don’t really need all those suds to get nice clean dishes. It still does form a good amount of soap suds though. Castile soap is the main ingredient, a soap I use for so many things! I added some lemon essential oil for a nice fragrance, boost in the cleaning power and antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.

This is the recipe I use to make mine and it works great!

Homemade Dish Soap Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 5 drops lemon essential oil
  • 1/2 cup liquid castile soap (I use this kind)

* You can substitute another type of essential oil for the lemon essential oil, some choices are; eucalyptus, lavender or sweet orange.

How to Make this Natural Homemade Dish Soap:

1. Mix all three ingredients together and store in any type of bottle. I use a squirt bottle or sometimes an old bottle the castile soap.

*You may need to shake the bottle before use.

Please help i’m 58 years old i have always been in pretty good health until when i turned 40 then every thing seem to go down hill. I’m on about 5 or 6 pershiptions for high blood pressure, thyriod, and a few other things. I would love to as healthy as i can but right now it’s unafordable for me as we have a very fix in-come. However i do try,and i hope that down the road i can find other means. I believe in being as healthy as i possibly can being that i’m a mother of 7 children and 4 grandchildren so this is very importent to me. I had also had a very bad injury to my ackle back a couple of years ago and can you believe it happen on the way to the gym two plates and 14 screws later. I had always been pretty fit until the injury. I really believe that what had cause this was my thyroid medication. So here i’am now trying to get back in shape and let me tell you i feel like i’m climbing a mountain! So right now i’m doing baby steps step by step to get back in shape and try and lose some of the weight that i had gained.
